Strolling through Berlin
A real weekend in Berlin includes a generous brunch as well as a traditional flea market visit. Strolling through the alleys, discovering real flea market treasures at the stalls or chasing bargains - what else do you need for weekend happiness?
We have prepared a list of our Top 11 flea markets in Berlin to let you know which flea markets are worth checking out for vintage clothes, where the old plates and books are, and which art markets or antique markets still have chandeliers and porcelain from the 70s:
Tip 1: The Colourful – Flea Market at Marheinekeplatz
The historical town square is particularly beautiful at the flea market in the Bergmannkiez. The vintage market offers enough space to stroll comfortably through the stands. Especially on offer are second-hand clothes, toys, and homemade items. But it also has books, CDs, and records, as well as art and antiques. After the dawdling you can get a snack in the nearby Marheineken-Markthalle on saturdays.

Tip 2: The Original Berliner – Flea Market at Arkonaplatz
The market women once stood under the old linden trees a hundred years ago at Arkonaplatz. Today it is mainly families from the neighbourhood that gather there, who combine a visit to the flea market with one of the greatest playgrounds just next door. The flea market mainly offers second-hand clothes, books, and recording items. At the northern end there are dealers with larger furniture, lamps and other vintage items. Surrounded by many trees, you can stroll through the Marktallee in a particularly green flair.

Tip 3: The Historical – Flea Market at Rathaus Schöneberg
Where John F. Kennedy once stood and identified himself as a Berliner, these days is where many people jostle every weekend between tent rows of hobby flea market dealers. Whether you're a Berliner or not, blend in with the colorful crowd of like-minded people looking for bargains in the form of clothing, books, electrical goods, and other knickknacks. Where: John F. Tip 4: The Cosiness - Second Hand & Flea Market at Kranoldplatz
The idyllic art and second-hand market on Kranoldplatz has a lot to offer. At this flea market, you'll find vintage treasures, art, books, clothes and handmade jewellery at the stalls. There will also be street food and musical accompaniment. From 24 April, the flea market will take place every second Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm.

Tip 5: The Intellectuals – Antique and Book Market at Bode Museum
Numerous book and antique dealers line up with their stands along the river Spree for this antique and book market every weekend. Their tables are filled with a wide range of books, art, and small furniture. These include cheap modern antiques and real rarities. Once you have found the original edition of your favourite author, it will be difficult to move on.

Tip 6: The Jewellery – Art and Flea Market at Fehrbelliner Platz
The special thing about the Fehrbelliner flea market is that in addition to the usual assortment of clothing, bags, housewares, books, plates, and CDs, there is the art promenade. The area opposite the Parkcafé is marked by a red carpet reserved for artists, who exhibit their paintings, drawings, ceramics, jewellery, and furniture. For all art lovers this is a must-do among the Berlin flea markets.

Tip 7: The Neighbourhood – Flea Market at Boxhagener Platz
The flea market around the "Boxi" is one of our favourite markets. This is where you will find everything you can imagine in terms of a flea market, from surprising figurines to antiques. And the location in the middle of Simon-Dach district, with all of its Cafés, is ideal for your Sunday outing.

Tip 8: The Traditional – Flea Market on Straße des 17. Juni
The flea market on Straße des 17. Juni is a Berlin original. Founded in 1978, it is the oldest flea market in the city. It is well worth browsing here: amidst the selection of junk there are also genuine collectibles with the value of rarities. You can also find dealers of the big, old farmer cabinets, and fine porcelain from way back when. An arts and crafts market is connected to the market with hand-knitted items, wooden toys, ceramic articles, and much more. Where: Straße des 17. Juni, Charlottenburg

Tip 9: The Precious – Antique Market at Ostbahnhof
The road on the north side of the Ostbahnhof is a central meeting place on Sunday for antique dealers and collectors. The offerings of professional sellers range from small items, such as stamps, coins, and postcards, and antiquarian books and records, to porcelain, vintage and large furniture items.

Tip 10: The Creative – Nowkölln Flea Market
The idyllic location next to the Landwehr Canal draws many market-goers. On Tuesdays and Fridays the dealers offer their fruit and vegetables at the BiOriental Market, and on Saturdays Berlin design students frolic at the local textile market. Every second Sunday the Maybachufer belongs to Berlin designers offering printed shirts, hand-crafted jewellery, and accessories. There are always culinary offerings and artistic performances as well.

Tip 11: The Legendary - Flea Market in the Mauerpark
Between picnics, music and good times, you'll find the flea market in the Mauerpark. The Mauerpark is one of the most popular parks in Berlin and is known for its sunny Sundays when many people gather to have a good time. In addition to offering fashion, jewellery, records and gadgets, numerous stalls provide you with snacks and drinks. Stroll through the flea market at Mauerpark with Berliners, tourists and students and enjoy a coffee, a Club Mate or an ice cream.
