This Bubble Up Chicken Pot Pie Recipe Will Steal Your Heart - Recipe Roost (1)

What a lovely meal this is!

My husband and I were chatting the other day about our favorite desserts. I told him that I think one of mine would have to be pecan pie. I just love this pastry!

My husband said that he definitely loved pecan pie but he was more of a cake person. So, we thought about putting the two together and came up with a lovely pecan cake bar recipe.

You are really going to enjoy this dessert, especially when you see how easy it is to make. My whole family enjoyed eating it, except for my youngest son due to his tree nut allergy. Don’t worry, he got ice cream 🙂

Okay, I’m a novice cook and I know this may sound like a dumb question. Do you make the biscuits first and then cut them into 4 pieces or do you just cut them straight out of the can into 4 pieces? 🙂

Reply

Do not pre cook biscuits…cut dough of each biscuit into fourths

Reply

Straight out of the can. As they cook in the the chicken mixture, they will puff up and make a topping as they brown. Use good quality canned biscuits. Cheap brands will just cook and taste like dumplings.

Reply

Cut them straight from the can. Also, in a recipe like this one, I think biscuits labeled “buttermilk”, “homestyle” or “southern are better than “flaky style” which separates in layers.

All your recipes sound good. Going to try Chicken pot pie

I make this with Pareve Cheeses, Pareve Sour Cream & Pareve Creamer. Pareve means those products are made from vegetables, soy products. It does not negate the flavour or consistency of this dish. It only keeps things Kosher for those of us with gourmet appetites and Kosher homes. It is a wonderful, warm and hearty meal well suited for comfort, casual or guest meals. Use your imagination and add a touch of sweet white wine and some cumin or curry to add a touch of pizazz to this already incredibly flavourful and delectable dish. You won’t be sorry for trying this recipe as is or Kosher style! B’Teyavon! (Good appetite!)☺?❤??

What are the best brands pareve/parse cheeses you’ve found?

When I have trouble printing a recipe, I just Copy & Paste it to my own email (I send the email to myself), with the Recipe Name in the Subject Line. Then I can later print it out, after I’ve figured out the printer issues 🙂

Question….do you mix the biscuit pieces into the mixture or leave them on top?

Hello, I enjoy reading through your article post. I wanted to write a little comment to support you.

Could you leave the sour cream out? Sour cream makes me sick if it is cooked, I can’t eat beef stroganoff for that same reason but I love chicken pot pie & this sounds so goo!!!

Reply

I don’t like sour cream either. I might try adding a little soft cream cheese, or maybe another can of cream of chicken soup. Cream of celery might give it a little more depth of flavor. Cheddar cheese soup would make a nice cheesy variation… Lots of ways you can tweak recipes like this.. I love them.

Reply

Adding 1 Cream of Celery soup and 1 cream of chicken, instead of 2 cans of Chicken soup alone, adds a wonderful tang to this, as well as not changing the recipe, is a great idea! I’ve always done the same thing with my Chicken Spaghetti.

Reply

the recipe calls for only 1 can of soup. is it 1 or 2 cans of soup.??

Reply

You could also try unflavored Greek yogurt.

Reply

Try using ricotta instead of sour cream. I think the skim milk one would work. Can’t hurt the flavor as ricotta is mild.

You could try unflavored Greek yogurt.

I made this using plain yogurt instead of sour cream… it was delicious!

I have a beef stroganoff recipie that doesn’t require sour cream & it’s the bomb, if you’d like a copy just let me know, I’d be happy to send it to you.

I was disappointed with this recipe. Mine was on the dry side and I didn’t care for the biscuits incorporated in the mixture instead of on the top. I followed the recipe and didn’t change anything. Used full fat chicken soup and sour cream too. I might try it again, but will covered the top with a crust or puff pastry. Will also add some milk or chicken broth to the mix. I like mine more gravy style.

Reply

I make mine with puff pastry, or pinch crescent dinner rolls together and put on top , I don’t ever put it in the chicken mixture – husband doesn’t like it like that.

Reply

I am not a fan of cream of chicken soup. What should I use to replace that part of the recipe

Reply

Use cheddar cheese soup.

Reply

cream of mushroom! Yuuumm!

Reply

Very tasty, but kind of sticky w/ not much gravy. I’d do fewer dough pieces, add milk or broth for more creamy consistency. I also added some chicken boullion seasoning and a few shakes of smoked paprika for flavor, but consistency/creaminess left lots to be desired.

Reply

add mushrooms and cream of celery soup and onion flakes and away we go.

I’d really like to save this recipe for future use, but I get an error message every time I try to save it to Pintetest. Would you please send me the recipe?

Do you have recipe cards or paper along with a pen or pencil?

Made this for dinner and loved it.

Sounded great till the biscuits. I HATE biscuits!!! Substitution???

Reply

Someone else mentioned using croissants (presumably laid flat) instead. Or I imagine you could use puff pastry as well. I would imagine both would give you a more traditional pot pie “covering”. But you might want to think about giving the biscuits a chance. They come out much more like dumplings than biscuits.

Reply

why can’t I print it out on my computer

Reply

Can you supply the nutritional information please?

Reply

It seems as though many of the comments are left by people who would need directions on how to flush a toilet. Use your internet browser to search substitutions . Get creative folks. Sounds like a recipe I will try. Also read a recipe twice before posting recipe instructions and measurements that are incorrect.

Looks like a pretty good and easy recipe. There are only two things I would change: 1. – the Lawry’s Seasoning salt cause it’s loaded with MSG and can put me in the hospital. I would substitute Mrs. Dash Original Seasoning – which is no sodium and no MSG. And 2 – would be to use Campbell’s Healthy Request Cream of Chicken soup cause it doesn’t have any MSG in it and the Campbell’s red label soup does. I have no problem with the natural MSG just the “added” MSG and both of the products you indicated in this recipe are loaded with it.

I didn’t have cr. of chicken, so used cr. of mushroom ( i always have in pantry.) I was VERY dissappointed in this recipe. Very bland. ( I added i packet of chicken broth seasoning to recipe, and about 1 tsp Bell’s Seasoning) Still very bland ! Will not make it again. Sorry.
